Admiralty Head Lighthouse
Admiralty Head opens in mid-April
with new exhibits

The Admiralty Head Lighthouse at Fort Casey Historical State Park will open later than usual this year with an exciting update to its exhibits. New, more easily readable interpretive panels are being installed, and the lighthouse will reopen *in mid-April*. Visitors will find an improved experience by which to learn the history of lighthouses and new ways to interact with the two lenses on display.

A few steadfast Fort Casey partners helped make this happen. The Lighthouse Environmental Program [ https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?data=05%7C02%7CMeryl.Lassen%40parks.wa.gov%7Cc8c06dc7851c4f0b922d08dc3972de49%7C11d0e217264e400a8ba057dcc127d72d%7C0%7C0%7C638448412758484256%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&reserved=0&sdata=nxQmJIMKs0JLFwgOPdCo5YjYqsSeum91mOqXY9Z2Vgk%3D&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwashingtonlighthouses.org%2Fdata%2Fabout.html%3Futm_content%3D%26utm_medium%3Demail%26utm_name%3D%26utm_source%3Dgovdelivery%26utm_term%3D&utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term= ] group of volunteer docents contributed $50,000 to the project, using proceeds from the gift shop they run at Fort Casey, and Keepers of Admiralty Head Lighthouse [ https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?data=05%7C02%7CMeryl.Lassen%40parks.wa.gov%7Cc8c06dc7851c4f0b922d08dc3972de49%7C11d0e217264e400a8ba057dcc127d72d%7C0%7C0%7C638448412758493763%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&reserved=0&sdata=HyJDuGnKmLI%2FiWShdZsE1c4eqN%2B53jUX1wxTrO9XMiU%3D&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.keepersofadmiraltyheadlighthouse.org%2F%3Futm_content%3D%26utm_medium%3Demail%26utm_name%3D%26utm_source%3Dgovdelivery%26utm_term%3D&utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term= ] played a big role.

As we strive to keep our parks updated, safe and friendly, sometimes we need to close areas or parks for construction. While it’s a temporary inconvenience, doing this work is an important part of stewardship and will help everyone enjoy these lands for generations to come.

A couple notable closures this year:
