Summer comes to a close

Thank you for following the Lake Hills and NW Lake Sammamish Sewer Upgrade Project [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/dnrp/waste-services/wastewater-treatment/capital-projects/lake-hills-nw-lake-sammamish ]. As our summer outreach season comes to an end, we want to thank everyone who came to speak to our project team at community events over the past few months. We had a wonderful time sharing our project with you!

*Summer 2024 outreach recap*

This summer, our engagement team hosted booths for Bike Everywhere Day, Redmond Derby Days, BECU Movies at Marymoor, and the Move Redmond Open Streets Festival. We provided project information, construction timeline updates, proposed detour plan updates, and an opportunity for community members to ask the project team questions, as well as some fun giveaways and prizes! In total, we spoke with 572 people, passed out approximately 1,500 giveaways, and registered 12 people for project updates.

Even though our summer outreach season has wrapped up, the project team will still be available to provide project information upon request.

*Schedule update*

The project is currently at 90% design and in the process of getting permits from the City of Redmond. Construction on the project is may begin as early as late 2026. As we continue to prepare for the start of construction, King County Wastewater Treatment Division will share more information with our neighbors later this fall.

About the project

King County is working on a project to upgrade 4.5 miles of sewer pipe. King County will build the new pipe in trails, roads, and parks in Redmond. Due to a slowdown in the design and permitting processes, we now expect construction to begin in 2026. When complete, the new pipe will provide sewer service for 50 years or more.
