Stormwater Work Progressing North on Eastlake Ave E

As construction crews complete stormwater work on Eastlake Ave E, they’ll move north to new parts of the project area. Stormwater work will progress northbound towards E Howe St in the coming weeks and then to E Lynn St. As we are completing this work further north, we will shift traffic around medians. Drivers going to and from driveways and cross-streets should expect delays while crews help them navigate through the construction site. Completion of the stormwater work at E Lynn St will conclude the mainline stormwater work, and we will then shift our focus towards the installation of inlets and connections to the main line. This comprehensive approach will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the storm drainage system, ensuring the long-term resilience of the community.

Stormwater work will be advancing north to E Lynn St.

Project Partnership with DON and OED

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is proud to be partnered with the Department of Neighborhoods (DON) [ https://www.seattle.gov/neighborhoods?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] and the Office of Economic Development (OED) [ https://www.seattle.gov/economic-development?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] on the RapidRide J Line project.

"Department of Neighborhoods"

DON uses their Community Liaisons program to engage with and better serve historically underrepresented communities in Seattle. Through their partnership with SDOT and the RapidRide J Line project team, the Community Liaisons have been engaging with hard-to-reach plus language communities to ensure underrepresented residents and businesses within the project area have access to the latest project information and construction updates. Our Community Liaisons have conducted door-to-door outreach, taken on casework, provided online and social media engagement, and worked on translations and proofreading when needed. If you would like to get in touch with DON, please email them at seattleneighborhoods@seattle.gov.

"Office of Economic Development"

The Office of Economic Development (OED) is committed to providing support to businesses during the RapidRide J Line construction project. The team is available to meet with businesses and explain the various programs that can be of assistance. One such program is the Small Business Legal Assistance program, offering legal counseling and workshops. Additionally, their Commercial Space Consulting Program provides 10 free hours of expert consultation to help businesses navigate commercial leases, advocate with landlords, and plan for tenant improvements. For those facing construction-related challenges, the Commercial Space Permit Coaching and Expedited Services program offers early site research, permit coaching, and expedited permitting. These services are designed to help businesses stay resilient and adaptable during the city's infrastructure upgrades. The project's goal is to ensure that businesses have the necessary support and resources to thrive during this construction project. If you would like to contact OED, please email them at oed@seattle.gov.

SDOT’s Commitment to the ADA

SDOT prioritizes inclusivity and accessibility in its construction projects, ensuring the needs of people of all ages and abilities are met. Committed to adhering to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and guidance, SDOT takes extensive measures to create safe and accessible pedestrian environments. During construction, SDOT implements temporary accessible pathways, curb ramps, and signage to facilitate the seamless movement of all pedestrians. By considering the diverse needs of the community, SDOT strives to ensure that everyone can navigate construction areas safely and with ease, fostering an inclusive and accessible urban landscape for all.
