Mayor's Update
November 22, 2024
public works
Happy Friday, Kent!
This week, strong windstorms swept through our region, leaving many in our community without power. For those still waiting for restoration, please know you’re in our thoughts during this challenging time, and you should expect to have power restored over the weekend.
City of Kent crews have been hard at work, clearing roadways, ensuring water systems are flowing smoothly, and keeping our sewer and storm systems operational.
Their dedication and long hours are a testament to their commitment to keeping our city running during severe weather events. I also want to thank all of PSE's crews that have been working around the clock to get the lights back on around the region.
At the end of the day, these outages serve as a good reminder to be prepared for weather events and emergencies that could result in a loss of power.
I've included some helpful information and resources below. Hope you find this week's update informative and have a great weekend!
Dana Ralph, Kent Mayor

*Air and Space Manufacturing Roundtable*
________________________________________________________________________
.
Yesterday I joined the mayors of Tukwila and Renton as we welcomed executives from 20 South King County aerospace and space companies to the launch of the "Kent Valley Air and Space Manufacturing Roundtable" at the Museum of Flight.
Companies represented included key players across the region’s $13.6 billion aerospace sector, which supports over 60,000 jobs.
This industry-driven initiative brings together top decision-makers to collaborate on critical issues like training programs to support workforce development, costs of doing business in King County, and testing facilities for our growing space industry.
With public partners providing neutral support, the roundtable focuses on long-term, actionable strategies to sustain and grow the aerospace and space industries in South King County.
These leaders will meet quarterly to ensure progress and maintain momentum. While the Roundtable is tailored for C-suite executives, other aerospace leaders who are interested in contributing to this initiative are encouraged to connect.
