*Kenmore's 25th Anniversary Celebration, August 26
*The City of Kenmore incorporated on August 31, 1998. That means we are celebrating Kenmore's 25th birthday this month! We invite you to join your neighbors and friends at the 25th Anniversary Celebration in Town Square on August 26. The event will feature live music, a story pole awakening ceremony, a beer garden, games, local artisan crafters and fun giveaways. "And don't forget to register for the Kenmore Quad [ https://www.kenmorewac.org/event/the-kenmore-quad/ ]!" This inaugural community event coincides with Kenmore’s 25th Anniversary Celebration and showcases the city's bike paths and three great waterfront parks. It features a 1/4 mile swim, 2 mile runs, a 6.2 mile bike ride, and 1.5 mile paddle. *City Seeks Proposals for Affordable Housing Development
*The City of Kenmore has released a request for proposals [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/Home/Components/RFP/RFP/75/201 ] for an Affordable Housing Development Project [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/2757/638259839644800000 ] on a City-owned property at 7010 NE 181st Street, Kenmore WA. The City is committed to affordable housing and seeks partner(s) who are equally committed and share the City’s vision of a project that will enhance the neighborhood around the City’s downtown core. We invite creative and committed partners to submit a proposal and join the City of Kenmore as we work together to add affordable units in Kenmore and do our part to address the region’s affordable housing crisis.

*Aerobic Composting—the Good Way to Decompose Your Food Waste
*Did you know that aerobic composting is way better for the planet than anaerobic composting? When you send your food waste to the landfill, it decomposes anaerobically, meaning without the help of oxygen to aid the decomposition process. On the other hand, when you put your food waste in the yard waste bin, it goes to Cedar Grove in Everett which decomposes your food waste aerobically (with oxygen).  Aerobic decomposition still produces CO2, but it produces much less CH4 than anaerobic decomposition. *Innovative Approach to Pandemic Learning Loss:
*"*A Partnership Between the City of Kenmore and Cascadia College
*"The City of Kenmore and Cascadia College are launching an innovative program this fall to alleviate learning loss that resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruptions in education. This new partnership between Kenmore and Cascadia, which was made possible using federal grant money from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) will bring approximately 100 Kenmore juniors and seniors from area high schools to the Cascadia campus in Bothell every Wednesday on early release days beginning this fall quarter for academic classes designed to help students cover content they missed during the pandemic.
