The RapidRide J Line project will enhance transit access and improve travel in the University District, Eastlake, South Lake Union, and Belltown. Whether commuting, attending the University of Washington, receiving medical care, or visiting local businesses, this project will make getting around easier and more convenient.

Our goal is to maintain reliable transit connections for Seattle’s growing communities by upgrading roads, sidewalks, lighting, drainage, and traffic signals. We will also add protected bike lanes and replace the water main on Eastlake Ave E. These improvements will support local businesses, housing access, and connected, vibrant communities.

University District Water Shutoff
The properties highlighted in red will experience the water shutoff on Sunday, February 23.

"The properties highlighted in red will experience the water shutoff on Sunday, February 23. "

As part of our water main work in the University District, we will shut off water near NE 43rd St on Sunday, February 23 between 2 – 7 PM. Last week we conducted a successful test of existing valves to ensure they will properly shut off the water ahead of our planned work this weekend. Seattle Public Utilities have notified stakeholders ahead of any disruptions. Water shut off information can be found on Seattle Public Utilities' webpage. [ https://www.seattle.gov/utilities/neighborhood-projects/water-outages?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] You can download frequently asked questions [ https://www.seattle.gov/documents/Departments/SDOT/TransitProgram/RapidRide/Roosevelt/Water%20Main%20FAQs.pdf?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] about water shut offs on our project website.

Temporary Water Main Work on Eastlake Ave E

"Seattle Public Utilities crews working on water mains. "

At the end of February, we will begin to install temporary water mains at the following locations:

* Eastlake Ave E and Fuhrman Ave E

* Eastlake Ave E and Harvard Ave E

This work will require lane closures but will not affect water service at this time. After these temporary mains are installed, we will then move onto work that will require water shutoffs. We are still determining the date and timing of these shutoffs but will ensure that the community and affected properties are notified well in advance.

*Stormwater Work on Eastlake Ave E *
Stormwater work is progressing north to E Lynn St.

"Stormwater work is progressing north to E Lynn St. "

We are progressing with stormwater drainage work on Eastlake Ave E from E Newton St to E Boston St. Once complete, we will continue north between E Boston St and E Lynn St. We will then close the west side of E Boston St and reopen E Newton St. In addition to closing E Boston St, we will temporarily remove parking on the west side of Eastlake Ave E and relocate the load zone near the southwest corner of Eastlake Ave E and E Lynn St further north. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete this work.
