Alaskan Way Safety Project Update - March 14

Alaskan Way Safety Project

*Please be aware that parking is temporarily restricted 24/7 on both sides of Alaskan Way between Broad St and Blanchard St*. Restrictions are set to be in place through construction and may be removed in some locations as activities are completed. *

Over the next few weeks, you'll see the following construction activities in the project area:

*Broad St to Clay St *


* Demolish existing sidewalk and roadway pavement
* Install storm infrastructure
* Construct concrete roadway panels, sidewalks, and driveway  

*Wall St to Clay St*


* Demolish street corners and roadway to install underground electrical conduits
* Construct bike buffer curbs for protected bike lanes
* Construct concrete roadway panels, sidewalks, driveways, and ADA curb ramps  

*Bell St to Wall St *


* Install removable bollards on west side of Alaskan Way
* Install pavement markings and signage 

*Bell St to Blanchard St *


* Install removable bollards on west side of Alaskan Way
* Install streetlight pole foundation and set new pole on east side of Alaskan Way
* Install pavement markings and signage
* Install lean rail and guard rail

*Construction for the Elliott Bay Connections (EBC) greenway trail began on Monday, February 10. Work is currently taking place on the east side of Alaskan Way between Virginia St and Blanchard St. Typical work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday. *What to expect during construction* Typical work hours are Monday – Friday, from 7 AM to 5 PM. During this time you can expect:  


* Temporary traffic revisions to accommodate construction activities 

* Temporary parking restrictions near work zones 

* Noisy construction activities, such as backup alarms for safety, heavy vehicle and truck use, and the use of large equipment 

* Steel plates in the roadway 

* Please note that much of this work is weather-dependent and subject to schedule changes
