The HIV/STI/HCV Program offers services and resources to decrease new infections and help those living with HIV, STIs, and HCV lead healthier lives. As part of the national Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative, King County is committed to radically reducing new HIV infections by expanding access to HIV prevention and care services designed for populations that have the hardest time using them.

This position is a Career Service (CS) Disease Research and Intervention Specialist (DRIS) whose primary responsibility is to work on the Ending the HIV Epidemic Initiative (EHE) via work on multiple Data-to-Care (D2C) projects. The primary purpose of this position is to find people not accessing life-saving HIV care and to help them overcome their barriers so they may achieve viral suppression. A harm reduction framework will be applied. Substantial field work involved, which will entail going out in a team of two staff members to peoples’ homes, shelters for homeless clients, or encampments. Substantial training in HIV outreach, security, confidentiality, safety, medical care referrals, and social services referrals will be required. Many different D2C projects and other people working on those will be involved, so the successful candidate needs excellent communication skills. Spanish or other language skills are not required but will be an asset.

*Commitment To Equity and Social Justice*
Named after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., one of the most influential civil rights leaders in our nation's history, King County is a vibrant international community with residents that represent countries from around the world. It is a region with increasing diversity that cherishes the traditions of many cultures.

The county government has a deep commitment to equity and social justice and advancing practices, strategies, and policies that promote fairness, justice, and opportunity for all – in our workplaces and our communities. With this commitment, King County has adopted a pro-equity agenda to advance regional change and ensure that residents from all communities are incorporated into our emergency planning and public outreach efforts.

We recognize that structural racism consists of principles and practices that cause and justify an inequitable distribution of rights, opportunities, and experiences across racial groups. Since declaring Racism is a Public Health Crisis in June 2020, King County and Public Health committed to being intentionally anti-racist and accountable to Black, Indigenous and People of Color communities.
