*Attorney Opening (IT Contracts)
Civil Division, Contracts Section*
The Civil Division is soliciting applications for a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the Contracts Section to advise on Information Technology (IT) contracts, Intellectual Property (IP), and general legal matters. The Contracts Section provides legal advice to County departments on a wide range of issues related to the procurement and administration of contracts for goods, services, and information technology products and the construction of and design of public works. Attorneys in this section review and edit contract documents, negotiate contract terms, and handle disputes related to the contract interpretation and enforcement, which may include Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and some litigation. The Contracts Section also provides general legal advice on a variety of topics to the King County Superior and District Courts, King County Elections, the Superior Court Clerk’s Office, the King County Auditor’s Office, the Office of Performance, Strategy and Budget (PSB), and the Treasurer’s Office.  The successful applicant will advise County client agencies on technology contracts, intellectual property issues, and other general legal matters.

The Civil Division provides comprehensive legal services to King County government, including all County elected and appointed officials, department heads, and with the managers of numerous county agencies and departments. Serving in its role as an in-house law firm for the County, the Civil Division works closely with its clients in solving a wide range of legal problems by providing legal advice and representing King County and its employees in lawsuits filed in state or federal courts.  The Civil Division is composed of about 65 lawyers organized into seven specialized sections: (1) Contracts, (2) County Services, (3) Transportation & Real Property, (4) Employment, (5) Land Use, (6) Natural Resources, and (7) Litigation.
