State Patrol urges ‘good choices’ on the roads this season

The Washington State Patrol and Washington Traffic Safety Commission urge ‘good decisions’ [ https://wsp.wa.gov/archives/106423/drivers-reminded-to-make-good-choices-over-the-holidays?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] this holiday weekend. Impaired driving, speeding, distraction, not wearing a seatbelt can be deadly mistakes. Of 810 Washingtonians who died in 2023 to roadway fatalities, 78 were killed during the holiday season. Slow down, pay attention, and NEVER drive impaired.

WSDOT plows celebrate a “Bilzzwald” family Christmas

The Washington State Department of Transportation’s newest plow “Clark W. SBA approves Inslee request for bomb cyclone disaster declaration.

The U.S. Small Business Administration this week approved Gov. CCA boosts school bus, transit ridership

With help from the state’s Climate Commitment Act, the wheels on 124 new electric school buses [ https://www.nbcrightnow.com/news/washington-school-districts-embrace-electric-buses-with-state-funding/article_d71b8735-d433-5501-8962-ee1784b3c0c3.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] will be going round and round all over the state. And an influx from the same legislation is helping the Tri-Cities’ Ben Franklin Transit [ https://www.tri-cityherald.com/news/local/article297066034.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] respond to a huge 14.7% leap in ridership. Kids now ride transit free all over Washington; youth have enjoyed 14.8 million free rides [ https://wsdot.wa.gov/about/news/2024/fare-free-transit-programs-boost-youth-ridership-public-transportation-statewide?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] thanks to the Climate Commitment Act and Move Ahead Washington transportation package.

Inslee issues executive order recognizing Serve Washington’s expanded duties

Gov. Jay Inslee this week issued Executive Order 24-07 [ https://governor.wa.gov/sites/default/files/exe_order/24-07%20-%20Serve%20Washington.pdf?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] to reflect Serve Washington’s work on new programs such as the Washington Climate Corps Network and Community Emergency Response Team program.  For twenty years now, Serve Washington has advanced resident involvement through community service.
