The City of Bellevue is seeking a skilled, motivated communicator as *Deputy Communications Officer* to join a collaborative and community-focused team committed to delivering effective, timely and transparent information to the public. The deputy communications officer serves as a key advisor to all departments on the planning, development, implementation, and management of city communications, marketing, and public relations policies and information.

The *deputy communications officer* is involved with strategic communications plans, media relations, city council communications support, internal communications, community engagement and communications-related city policies. This person acts as a "consultant" to city departments, reviewing projects for excellence in design and messaging while advising on implementation to meet a myriad of objectives for both external and internal audiences.

The role may also include leadership and facilitation as needed for cross-departmental communications projects and programs, ability to identify major issues, determine the scope of projects, strategize approaches, and work in concert with department management to establish schedules and allocate resources. The person in this position must establish effective relationships with other departments, the city council, community associations and residents, the business community, civic organizations, regional partners, the media, and various other interested parties.
