The Medina Police Department has recently been made aware of a scam in which individuals are being contacted by someone falsely claiming to represent a non-existent police agency known as the “Hunts Point Police Department.”

The Town of Hunts Point receives police services through a contract with the Medina Police Department. There is *no separate Hunts Point Police Department*.

In these fraudulent calls, the person(s) claim that the recipient has missed jury duty and is subject to arrest unless a monetary fine is paid immediately. These scammers may also attempt to obtain personal or financial information. No legitimate law enforcement agency will ever contact you to request money or payment over the phone.

If you receive a similar call or have any doubts about a communication claiming to be from a police agency, *do not provide any personal or financial information.* Instead, contact the Medina Police Department directly using the phone numbers listed below this bulletin.
