*Summer Volunteer Opportunities - Join the Fun!
*This City is currently looking for community volunteers to help support Kenmore summer events. Volunteering at City events is a fun way to get involved and connect with other community members. To sign up, fill out the Volunteer Intake Form [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/our-city/volunteer-programs/volunteer-intake-form ] and select the volunteer shift you are interested in.
*4th of July Volunteers Needed
*The Kenmore 4th of July Fireworks Show [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/our-city/special-events/4th-of-july ] is the largest event of the year and we need volunteer support to run the event! There are volunteer roles for individuals and also opportunities for a group or a business to volunteer as a team. All the 4th of July volunteers will get a volunteer t-shirt and dinner will be provided. *Proposed Glacier Northwest Dredging Project Status Update*
Glacier Northwest, Inc. (dba CalPortland) is proposing lake dredging at the ready-mix plant and aggregate yard located at the north end of Lake Washington at 6423/6431 NE 175th Street in Kenmore. The project proposes to remove approximately 800 cubic yards of material within the previously maintained 16,000-square-foot berth (the space where vessels can be moored) for maintenance dredging. The project is proposed as maintenance to provide safe access for vessels and barges to the terminal by removing (dredging) sand, gravel, and some lake sediment.
*Project Status Update: *The SEPA Determination of Mitigated NonSignificance (MDNS) [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/home/showdocument?id=3263 ] was issued on June 3, 2024 and includes mitigation measures (conditions). Visit the project webpage [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/our-city/projects-in-the-city/current-projects/glacier-nw-dredging ] to learn more, including a detailed description of these conditions:
* Sediment testing is required.
* Water quality monitoring is required.
* To help ensure the protection of fish and their habitat, the project shall comply with recommendations provided by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and provide a copy of Hydraulic Project Approval (HPA) permit issued by the WDFW to the City.

**Celebrate Juneteenth in Kenmore June 19*

This community event includes interactive booths, performances, speakers, activities, crafts, educational materials, food, giveaways, and more! The City of Kenmore events team is partnering with the DEIA [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/government/departments/human-resources/diversity-equity-and-inclusion ] Advisory Committee to host this important and significant event.
