We’re excited to start construction on the NE 130th St & NE 125th St Mobility and Safety Project [ https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/transportation-planning/ne-130th-and-125th-mobility-and-safety-project?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] in mid-November! We’ll share more information on upcoming work, our expected start date, and general schedule in the next few weeks.
*We plan to start work at the following locations:*
* Roosevelt Way NE/10th Ave NE/NE 125th St to start on the new roundabout (see below for information on traveling through this area during construction)
* NE 125th St between 16th Ave NE and 17th Ave NE
* NE 125th St between 20th Ave NE and 25th Ave NE
*If you own or manage a business, commercial building, or residential building in the area, please take our **pre-construction survey* [ https://forms.office.com/g/30NhAQCUR7?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] to let us know about your needs during construction. *Roundabout Construction*
In mid-November we’ll start work on the new roundabout at 10th Ave NE and Roosevelt Way NE. When work begins, there will be street closures, detours, and temporary paths for people walking, biking, and rolling. As we get closer to starting construction, we’ll share more details on when the closures take effect and construction activities.
*In general, you can expect:*
* 1 vehicle lane in each direction for east/west travel
* Closure of Roosevelt Way NE south of the Roosevelt Way NE / 10thAve NE / NE 125th St intersection. See below for a detour route.
* “Local Access Only” restriction for northbound 10th Ave NE
* An 8-ft barrier-separated shared-use path for walking, biking, and rolling on the north side of Roosevelt Way NE
* A 4-ft barrier-separated walking path on the south side of Roosevelt Way NE

*Tree Removal Notices*
This week, we posted removal notices on approximately 6 trees near Roosevelt Way NE and 10th Ave NE. These removals are needed to construct the roundabout. Any trees removed will be replaced according to City standards, and we plan to plant trees and landscaping in the roundabout area. If you have questions or comments about tree removals, you can email us at NE130thSt_NE125thSt_Project@seattle.gov or call (206) 400-7515.

*3rd Ave NE Speed Humps*
Earlier this year, we met with neighbors who shared concerns about an increase in speeding on 3rd Ave NE between NE 130th St and NE 133rd St. While we have plans to redesign the intersection [ https://www.seattle.gov/images/Departments/SDOT/ProjectsAndPrograms/NE%20130th%20%26%20NE%20125th%20Mobility%20and%20Safety%20Project/Final%20Design/NE130-3rd-5th.png?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] as part of this project, a near-term solution was needed. After doing a speed and traffic volume study, we determined that speed humps along 3rd Ave NE would help reduce speeds. *Weather permitting, we plan to install the speed humps this Sunday, Nov. 2.*
