We have scheduled work to redesign N 130th St between Stone Ave N and 1st Ave NE for Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27. The new street design will have 1 vehicle lane in each direction, a center turn lane, and new protected bike lanes that people on scooters can use too. *What to expect during construction*
* *Working hours from 8 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27*. You may see crews gathering and preparing for work before 8 AM on each day.
* *Removal of existing lane markings and installation of new lane markings* between Stone Ave N and 1st Ave NE. You may experience noise and vibrations from equipment during working hours.
* *1 vehicle lane in each direction will remain open during work* with flaggers and uniformed police officers on-site to direct traffic
* *Closure of driveways on N 130th St for up to 20 minutes* to allow the lane markings to dry
* *Materials and equipment stored in the area* starting as soon as Thursday, April 24 and overnight on Saturday, April 26
* *No changes to bus service *but you may experience minor delays
*Project overview*
We’re redesigning N 130th St from Stone Ave N to 1st Ave NE to improve safety as part of our Vision Zero [ https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/safety-first/vision-zero?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] commitment to ending traffic deaths and serious crashes. The new street design also supports access to Sound Transit’s future Pinehurst Light Rail Station [ https://www.soundtransit.org/system-expansion/pinehurst-station?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] and King County Metro's Route 77 [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/legacy/depts/transportation/metro/programs-projects/fares-routes-and-service/lynnwood-link-connections.aspx?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ], both starting service in 2026.
*The new street design includes:*
* *Redesigned street from 4 lanes to 3 lanes *with 1 vehicle lane in each direction and a center turn lane to improve safety
* *Protected bike lanes *on both sides of the street to improve safety and connections for people on bikes and scooters
* *Protected left turns at Meridian Ave N, Ashworth Ave N, and Stone Ave N *to improve turning operations and safety through these intersections
* *Reduced speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph *to improve safety for all users
* *‘No Turn On Red’ restrictions *at 1st Ave NE, Meridian Ave N, Ashworth Ave N, and Stone Ave N to improve safety
