Mayor's Proposed 2025-26 Biennial Budget
________________________________________________________________________
budget
Happy Friday, Kent!
On Monday, I had the pleasure of presenting my 2025-2026 Biennial Budget proposal to the Kent City Council.
Our job as city leaders is to be fiscally responsible, anticipate future challenges, and move our city forward.
After working with our department directors, staff, and finance team, I believe this budget proposal accomplishes all of these obligations.
The council will spend the next several weeks going through the proposal and have the opportunity to make suggestions and changes and will vote on the final passage of the budget in November.
As always, this week's newsletter is packed with a lot of great information, so I hope you enjoy it and have a great weekend.
Dana Ralph, Kent Mayor

gathering table
A beautiful thing jhappened at Hillside Church this weekend.
It is called The Longest Table.
People bring food that represents their culture to share with all in attendance.
Over 300 people from at least 27 countries sharing food, fellowship, music - all smiling and sharing their stories. What am amazing gathering.

The 509 extension has been in the making for decades. When finished it will connect with Veterans Drive - completing an important freight corridor.
This week, WSDOT welcomed representatives from the community, government and industry partners onto the site of the future SR 509 Expressway, where we commemorated the beginning of the end of this long-planned and awaited connection between I-5 and SR 509 resulting in enhanced mobility for the Puget Sound region.
