Temporary permitting system closure 10/17-10/28

Plumbing and gas piping permitting services will be temporarily closed for one week from Friday, October 17 at 7PM through Tuesday, October 28 while Public Health—Seattle & King County’s Plumbing & Gas Piping Program transitions to a new permitting system, called the Public Health Permit Center [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/dph/health-safety/environmental-health/permits ]. Please plan for this downtime accordingly.

*What is NOT available during the temporary permitting system closure? *

During the temporary permitting system closure, customers will NOT be able to:

* Submit applications for new permits or plan reviews
* View and change account details in the Environmental Health Portal
* Make payments or request refunds

*What is available during the temporary closure?*

* *Plumbing inspections for existing permits will continue at a reduced capacity.* Due to possible delays in recording inspection results into the new permitting system, please be sure to keep a hardcopy of all inspection reports at the project site from October 17 through at least November 30 for reference by inspection staff.
* *Engagement and support for existing permits and plans* (e.g. email communications) will continue at a reduced capacity. Follow-up actions may be limited, and you may experience delays in communication with Public Health staff. * *

*When do permitting services reopen? *

Once the new system is live on Wednesday, October 29, you will be able to register for a Public Health Permit Center account. Note that you need to create an account in the Public Health Permit Center with the same email address you used in the old system to access the data from the old system.

*What can I do to prepare for this change? *

* *Submit applications now. *If you anticipate having permitting needs during the closure, make sure to submit any applications for permits, plan review, change of ownership, or other issues as early as possible before the temporary closure.
* *Pay unpaid balances. *If you have an unpaid fee in the current Environmental Health online portal, [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/dph/health-safety/environmental-health/portal ] please pay the balance at your earliest convenience before the temporary closure.
* *Update your account email. *If you have an account in the current portal, make sure the email address on file in your account is up-to date. You will need to create an account in the Public Health Permit Center with the same email address you are using in the current system to access the data from your account.
* *Renew current permits. *If you have an existing permit that may be close to expiring, be sure to renew the permit prior to October 17.

*Communications and follow-up with customers may be delayed as we navigate this transition. Please have patience as we work to support you! *
