"Riders can review the route updates on Metro’s web page in English [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ], 简体中文 (Simplified Chinese) [ https://kingcounty.gov/zh-cn/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ], Русский (Russian) [ https://kingcounty.gov/ru-ru/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ], Español (Spanish) [ https://kingcounty.gov/es-es/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ] and Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese) [ https://kingcounty.gov/vi-vn/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ]."

King County Metro will update schedules and increase bus service starting March 29 [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ]. Improvements include hundreds of new weekend bus trips on key routes that are supported by the Seattle Transit Measure [ https://sdotblog.seattle.gov/2025/03/17/seattle-transit-measure-metro-spring-2025-service-change/ ].

*Service highlights*

Seattle Transit Measure funded:

* *Route 8*: Eight new trips will be added on Saturday and 33 new trips will be added on Sunday.
* *Route 36:* 14 new trips will be added on Saturday and 36 new trips will be added on Sunday.
* *Route 56: *This route will have one fewer trip each weekday during the morning commute hours, which is a reduction in trips that are currently funded by the Seattle Transit Measure. These service hours will be re-invested in other routes to better meet the City’s policy goals and equity commitments.
* *Route 107:* Six trips will be added on weekdays, 61 trips will be added on Saturday and 63 trips will be added on Sunday.
* *Route 124:* One trip will be added on Saturday and two trips will be added on Sunday.
* *RapidRide C Line:* Buses will come about every 10 minutes or more frequently. This route will have fewer trips during afternoon commute hours, some of which were funded by the voter-approved Seattle Transit Measure. This change is to support Seattle’s equity goals, better align with transit need and demand, and be consistent with Metro’s RapidRide policies.
* *RapidRide G Line:* Two late night trips will be added for both weekday and weekend service.
* *RapidRide H line:* Five trips will be added on weekdays and three trips will be added on Saturday and Sunday.

King County updates

* *Changes in Federal Way: *Starting March 30, routes 177, 181, 182, 183, 187, 193 and 901 will switch to new bus stops at the Federal Way Downtown Station and the Federal Way Transit Center will close.
* *Sound Transit 2 Line:* Two new Link stations open May 10 [ https://www.soundtransit.org/system-expansion/downtown-redmond-link-extension ] and Redmond bus routes 224, 250, 269, 930 and RapidRide B Line will update their routing at that time.

Riders can review the route updates on Metro’s web page in English [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ], 简体中文 (Simplified Chinese) [ https://kingcounty.gov/zh-cn/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ], Русский (Russian) [ https://kingcounty.gov/ru-ru/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ], Español (Spanish) [ https://kingcounty.gov/es-es/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ] and Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese) [ https://kingcounty.gov/vi-vn/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change ]. Bus trip schedules will be updated across most bus routes and new purple timetables soon will be available on buses and popular transit locations.

King County Metro supports regional approach to safety
Passengers loading on to Metro bus at transit center

The inaugural meeting of the King County Regional Transit Safety Task Force took place on March 20. While we continue to take proactive steps to support our employees and riders, a regional approach will tackle the broader challenges that can negatively affect transit. Making our communities and neighborhoods safer will, in turn, make public transportation safer.

We appreciate partnering with Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 587, which called for the task force. Participants include advocacy and community groups; behavioral health and alternative response teams; government officials at the city, county and federal level; labor unions; law enforcement; public health and safety representatives; and transit agencies.

The Regional Transit Safety Task Force will align the many stakeholders; provide a collaborative forum; determine data-supported interventions in the short-, medium- and long-term; coordinate on budget and policy; and ensure accountability. Our shared goal is measurable and sustained safety improvements that will make a difference in the lives of our employees and riders.

Read more about our safety goals on the Metro Matters blog [ https://kingcountymetro.blog/2025/03/19/king-county-metro-supports-regional-approach-to-safety/ ].
