Community E-lert® is a registered trademark of the City of Medina Police Department.   This announcement is provided as a public service to residents of Medina and Hunts Point.  It is our intention to distribute these E-lerts following an occurrence or condition that may have public safety or community well-being implications.

The warm weather of spring and summertime in Medina and Hunts Point is upon us! The nice weather tends to bring with it an increase in solicitor activity throughout our communities. 

The Medina Police Department asks for your help in ensuring that soliciting in Medina and Hunts Point is conducted lawfully and appropriately. We ask that you call 911 immediately if you witness or experience the following behavior:


* Solicitors are not permitted to approach entryways and front doors of residences with "No Solicitor" signs clearly posted.
* When asked to leave, solicitors must leave your property immediately.
* Like any visitor to your home, a solicitor must not become hostile or aggressive.
* Solicitors may only approach and access "common curtilage" areas of your home, meaning they may not access areas not normally accessed by mail carriers or food delivery workers.

Solicitors are required to apply for and display an approved permit while soliciting in the Town of Hunts Point. This is what the permit in Hunts Point looks like:

Solicitors are now required to apply for and display an approved permit while soliciting in the City of Medina as well. This is what the permit in Medina looks like:

Anyone soliciting in Medina and Hunts Point must obtain a permit prior to soliciting. If a solicitor at your residence cannot show you their valid permit, please contact the Medina Police Department by calling 911 so that we may attempt to contact the solicitor.

As always, if you see something suspicious taking place, report what you are observing by calling 9-1-1. When you call, please be as descriptive as possible to describe the circumstances.  Lastly, suspicious behavior or activity does not always indicate ill intent or crime, but your observations can make a difference by helping to deter, prevent, or respond to crime.
