We are seeking an Associate Planner to advance Council priorities, particularly related to the joint land use planning initiatives for the Development Services and Community Development Departments. This role will focus on updating the city’s sign code, responding to state mandates with necessary code changes, and supporting senior planners on housing-related projects, including developing code amendments to implement policy directions. The position requires collaboration and coordination throughout policy planning and code development, working closely with staff both within and outside the Development Services Department.

Bellevue’s Development Services Department is part of a multi-departmental line of business offering a one-stop solution for general information and permits needed for development activities in Bellevue and surrounding areas. Our team includes code compliance officers, engineers, finance analysts, inspectors, planners, plans examiners, permit technicians, and support staff from Development Services, Fire, Transportation, and Utilities departments. As a member of the Code and Policy team, you will work with staff from other city departments to develop city codes and regulations that guide and unlock future land uses, advancing the City’s vision. Currently, the Code and Policy team is engaged in several major projects, including the Wilburton Vision Implementation, Middle-Housing Code Amendments, implementing amendments related to the City’s Affordable Housing Strategy, aligning the code with the Periodic Update to the Comprehensive Plan, addressing State legislative changes, and various other code development efforts. body { font-size: 1em; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; color: #333333; }
