Right-of-Way Management Engineer [ https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/bellevuewa/jobs/4637362?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]
The Transportation Department is looking for an Engineer to join the city's Right of Way Management team of highly experienced professionals. Bellevue is recognized for its continued regional growth, advancement of Smart City initiatives, and safe and efficient transportation systems. We are excited to provide an opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to join our team in keeping Bellevue moving forward.

The ideal candidate will understand transportation design and construction and/or the ability to read and comment on transportation construction plans. This position will have a fundamental role in reviewing and permitting wireless communication facilities (WCFs), small wireless facilities (SWFs) and associated fiber data/communication backhaul/fronthaul systems on city streetlight poles, utility poles and related electrical system connections to City facilities. Although direct experience designing or reviewing these types of facilities is not necessary, a basic understanding of general transportation construction and/or design work and a willingness to learn more about the review and permitting of various communication facilities and associated work (street light pole base, conduit, electrical, traffic control, etc.) is essential.

This position also provides general right-of-way use permit application review and permitting and is part of an interdepartmental service alignment where collaboration and teamwork are essential. Typical duties include the review of improvements and traffic control associated with major developments, capital projects, and other regional improvements within City public rights-of-way. The position will also support special event planning and emerging uses of the rights-of-way including curbside usage for parking, shuttles, loading, on-street dining, food trucks, and other similar uses. The incumbent will also be responsible for responses to customer concerns, interests, and other requests associated with City rights-of-way and franchise utility management.  When performing duties, the incumbent will provide engineering design guidance; evaluation of time, place and manner relative to construction means and methods; evaluate the scheduling of disturbance and non-disturbance activities in the street system, and ensure compliance with codes, standards and adopted policies. All approved permits support safe and accessible systems for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists within the City’s rights-of-way.

Decisions and recommendations are made using informed engineering judgment considering established codes, policies, standards, and guidelines. Other responsibilities include support for Transportation Department projects, initiatives, and planning studies; helping implement new programs and initiatives; and providing support during emergency operations, including response and recovery. body { font-size: 1em; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; color: #333333; }
