Reduce Food Waste - "*Thursday, August 14 at 10a.m.*"

In Washington, 1 in 9 people are food insecure, which means that they don't know where their next meal is coming from. Yet, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Americans waste over 1 billion pounds of food annually which fills up our landfills and hurts our environment. While these issues may seem bigger than most of us can take on, it's important to understand that individuals feel food waste in our wallets... by buying only what you need, and eating all that you buy, YOU can save money as well as do your part to protect the environment and reduce hunger in our community.  Meal planning, proper food storage and using all parts of the food that we buy all play a real part in saving our landfills while saving us money! We will discuss how discuss how to choose, store, and use the delicious abundance of fresh fruits and veggies of the season. And how this effort benefits your health as well as your wallet.
