Olympic Hills Healthy Street Construction starting soon!

Greetings Lake City Healthy Street Neighbors,

As soon as *September 26 *we will start construction on the permanent installation of the Olympic Hills Healthy Street [ https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/healthy-streets/lake-city-healthy-street?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery#:~:text=As%20we%20previously%20announced,%20the%20installation%20of%20features%20on%20the ].

We will install permanent signage with a concrete block base and newly painted curb space around it at each intersection along the Healthy Street. At intersections where Olympic Hills neighbors requested planters [ https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/healthy-streets/healthy-street-planters?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ], we will install the permanent signage with a planter sign base. Unauthorized on-street parking located within 20 feet of the intersection [ https://www.seattle.gov/documents/Departments/SDOT/ParkingProgram/CanIParkHereBrochure.pdf?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] will be removed for the permanent sign installation.

For more information about the plans for this permanent Healthy Street, please visit our webpage [ https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/healthy-streets/lake-city-healthy-street?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]!

Healthy Streets are open for people walking, rolling, biking, and playing, and closed to pass-through traffic.

*_What to expect during construction:_*

Typical construction hours are weekdays, 7 AM to 5 PM, and may include weekend work.

Other expected construction effects may include:

* Noise and vibration
* Dust and debris
* Construction staging and parking impacts near the work sites
* “No Parking” areas and other parking impacts
* Crosswalk and sidewalk closures, with detours for people walking and biking
* Roadway closures and detours for vehicle traffic

Please note that the construction schedule may change due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e., weather, soil conditions, etc.).

What is a permanent Healthy Street?

A permanent Healthy Street means that we will be installing permanent signage with a concrete block base and new painted curb space around it at each intersection. Unauthorized on-street parking located at Healthy Street corners of the intersection, within 20ft of the intersection, will be removed for new installation.

Pictured below are the two permanent Healthy Street sign options. On the left is a Healthy Street sign with a planter option, and on the right is a sign with the concrete base.
