Prepare for reroutes due to demonstrations on Saturday, June 14
About two dozen bus routes are expected to be temporarily rerouted midday Saturday, June 14, because of a planned march and demonstration in Capitol Hill and downtown Seattle.
We have communicated planned route changes to riders via email and text transit alerts and rider alerts posted at affected bus stops. Service will be affected on *Routes 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 21, 28, 36, 40, 49, 60, 62, 70, 101, 131, 132, 150, Sound Transit Express Routes 545 and 554, and RapidRide C and E lines*. Details are posted on our Service Advisories [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/metro/rider-tools/service-advisories ] webpage.
As demonstrations and public expression take place across our region, our top priority remains ensuring reliable, safe and uninterrupted service for all our riders. We are committed to keeping our community moving—while honoring the values that make it strong.
*Before traveling, we **recommend riders visit our **Service Advisories* [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/metro/rider-tools/service-advisories ]* webpage to check their route for updates. *The Seattle Department of Transportation [ https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/ ] and other local jurisdictions are the best source for street closure information.
Demonstrations are also scheduled in cities throughout King County on Saturday. Those areas may also experience disruptions or slowdowns to routes as well as increased pedestrian congestion. Be prepared for these impacts and please allow extra time when you travel.

King County Metro to install operator safety partitions fleetwide
image looking from inside the bus out the front windshield with a driver smiling and the new safety shields. with KCM logo on image
King County Metro bus operators are evaluating safety partition designs as part of the planning process for retrofitting up to 1,300 of the agency’s 1,400 buses. Existing buses not being upgraded will be replaced by a recent order for 89 new buses that have a partition already installed.
From now through July 5, four buses, each with a different style of partition currently available on the market, will be touring Metro’s bases. The safety partitions, which riders will begin seeing on both new and existing buses later this year, offer increased size and durability to better protect Metro bus operators.
Following operators’ feedback on the potential safety partition features, Metro will move forward with a procurement process to obtain the equipment for retrofitting its existing buses.

Supervisor Spotlight: Highlighting those behind the scenes who keep us moving
supervisor spotlight and cartoon bus with computer to radio and headphone
It takes a lot of people to keep a transit system running smoothly across 150 routes and over 300,000 boardings a day.
Bus drivers are the most visible part of any transit system, but there are people behind the scenes who are just as vital in the day-to-day operation of King County Metro.
Their responsibilities include training operators, planning the routes that run throughout the region, and literally being the “traffic controllers” who keep track of the buses on their daily runs.
We’d like to introduce you to the staff that help keep the wheels on the bus going “round and round” every day.
This Supervisor Spotlight features Aaron M Lewis and Carlos Womack.
