TODAY: Mayor Harrell Joins Office of the Waterfront and Civic Projects, and Community Leaders for Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Completion of Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements on Pike and Pine Streets 

*Seattle* – Today, Wednesday, June 11, Mayor Harrell will join the Office of the Waterfront, Civic Projects and Sound Transit [ https://waterfrontseattle.org/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ], civic and community leaders, to celebrate the completion of pedestrian and bicycle improvements on Pike and Pine streets [ https://waterfrontseattle.org/waterfront-projects/pike-pine-renaissance?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]. These enhancements, designed in coordination with the Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) [ https://www.downtownseattle.com/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] and the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), strengthen east-west connections between Seattle’s new iconic Waterfront Park, the downtown retail core and surrounding neighborhoods. 

Construction began in February 2023, improving 23 city blocks in this critical corridor between Capitol Hill and Pike Place Market. Enhancements include more than a mile of new or improved protected bike lanes, push-button crosswalk signals, curb ramps and crosswalks with contrasting colors, new seating and more than 1,400 plants. Artwork by Derek Bruno and Gage Hamilton is also featured on railings and planters.
