Hello!

The King County Flood Control District and its service provider, King County, are proposing to construct a flood protection project to substantially reduce the potential for White River flooding in the City of Pacific and to improve environmental conditions along this portion of the White River.

The proposed project could have significant impacts on the environment. For this reason, state law requires the County to prepare a report called an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) before building the project. The EIS studies alternatives to complete the project, as well as potential benefits and impacts of the alternatives, and how to avoid or reduce impacts. King County has prepared a Draft EIS for this project. Community members and agency partners can review the Draft EIS and provide feedback to help inform the project planning. The King County Flood Control District is funding the EIS process and will decide on a preferred project alternative after the Final EIS is issued.

Notice of Availability: Draft Environmental Impact Statement

 

King County, the lead agency for this project proposal, has determined that this proposal is likely to have a significant adverse impact on the environment. An environmental impact statement is therefore required under RCW 43.21C.030 (2)(c). King County has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement covering aspects of the built and natural environment for five alternative project configurations, including a No Action alternative. The Pacific Right Bank Flood Protection Project is located on the right (west) bank of the White River in the City of Pacific between the BNSF Railway bridge (at river mile 6.3) and the King-Pierce County boundary line (at river mile 5.5).

Comments on this project must be received by 5:00 p.m. PST on December 13, 2024
