Kenmore Deputy City Manager Stephanie Lucash Awarded National 2024 Leadership Trailblazer Award

*Kenmore, WA - *The City of Kenmore proudly announces that Deputy City Manager Stephanie Lucash has been recognized as the national 2024 Leadership Trailblazer Award winner. This prestigious honor was bestowed upon Lucash by the League of Women in Government [ https://www.leagueofwomeningovernment.org/2024/09/congratulations-to-the-2024-leadership-trailblazer-winner-stephanie-luchash/ ] (LWG) during the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, in September. The Leadership Trailblazer Award celebrates women who have made significant contributions to public service and demonstrated exemplary leadership in government.

Lucash has dedicated over three decades to public service, championing efforts to elevate women in local government and inspire positive change. As an executive board member and Recruitment and Selection Committee Chair of the Northwest Women's Leadership Academy, she empowers and advances women in local government by providing the skills, resources, and support needed to become effective leaders in a sector where women are still underrepresented. Additionally, Lucash served as the President of the Washington City/County Management Association over the past year.

Ms. Lucash said, “It is a tremendous honor to be the 2024 Leadership Trailblazer Award winner and inducted into the League of Women in Government Hall of Fame. I see this national award as an acknowledgment of my contributions over a 30-year public service career, including statewide leadership work and significant efforts to mentor and lift up others. My career journey hasn’t always been easy, and I don’t do this work to be recognized – public service is truly a calling – but it is rewarding to be seen.”

“This award is one of the highest honors bestowed upon an ICMA member at the annual conference and is a testament to Stephanie Lucash’s countless contributions to the profession,” said Jessi Bon, West Coast Representative for the ICMA Board of Directors. “Her unwavering commitment, visionary leadership, and bold actions have truly moved the needle in our field. She is an extraordinary leader, and her impact on the profession surpasses that of anyone I’ve had the honor to work with.”

Lucash has worked for the City of Kenmore since 2021, where she has been instrumental in spearheading key initiatives including the American Rescue Plan Act funding and COVID-19 response efforts, leading regional partnerships, building relationships with the local business community, and advocating for access to mental health services and affordable housing.

“We are incredibly proud to see Deputy City Manager Lucash recognized as a Leadership Trailblazer,” said Mayor Nigel Herbig. “Her commitment to excellence and passion for service inspire everyone around her. This award not only reflects Stephanie’s hard work and accomplishments but also underscores the importance of empowering women leaders in shaping the future of our communities.”

The City of Kenmore extends its heartfelt congratulations to Deputy City Manager Lucash for this well-deserved recognition of her achievements.
