Plan ahead! All lanes of eastbound SR18 to close for weekend paving July 25-28 in Auburn

All eastbound lanes of State Route 18 will close around the clock for the weekend beginning Friday night, July 25, as a pavement repair project [ https://links-1.govdelivery.com/CL0/https:%2F%2Fwsdot.wa.gov%2Fconstruction-planning%2Fsearch-projects%2Fsr-18-eb-c-st-sw-vic-green-river-paving-joint-replacement/1/0100019832ab72a6-71125f79-a839-4706-9371-a3c40e54fdba-000000/rcPFL8PopqnjNtukgLIW-i6oUi2KZBPuHy2c2DPKDaY=414 ] gets rolling in Auburn.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, July 25, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close eastbound SR 18 between C Street Southwest and Auburn Way South, until 5 a.m. Monday, July 28. All eastbound vehicles on SR 18 will need to exit at C Street Southwest.

The eastbound SR 18 on-ramp from C Street Southwest and off-ramp to Auburn Way South will close at the same time.

*Detour*
A signed detour will head north on C Street Southwest, east on Third Street Southwest and south on Auburn Way South, before vehicles can use the on-ramp back onto eastbound SR 18. The left lane of eastbound SR 18 will remain closed about a mile beyond the Auburn Way South on-ramp from 9 p.m. Friday, July 25, through 8 a.m. Saturday, July 26.

Police officers will help direct traffic through the detour during the closure. People traveling through the area should expect delays and add time to their travel plans.

*Pavement repairs*
During the closure, crews will grind pavement, perform full-depth pavement repairs and install traffic loops and temporary lane striping. This work requires dry weather and may need to be rescheduled.

The work is part of a project that will pave roughly 3 miles of eastbound SR 18 from C Street Southwest to Green River, creating a smoother ride and preserving the highway for years to come. The project also will replace aging expansion joints on the C Street bridge.
