*Safe Paddling and Boating Week in Kenmore and New Life Jacket Loaner Station at Log Boom Park*
Last week, the City Council proclaimed May 18-24 as Safe Paddling and Boating Week [ https://kenmore.civicweb.net/FileStorage/F6E0115FCBC64723BA3AD46CA57E965F-Safe%20Paddling%20and%20Boating%20Week%20-%20May%2018-24,%202025.pdf ], part of a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting safe boating practices and reducing accidents on the water. Residents are encouraged to always wear life jackets on the water, never boat under the influence, and check weather conditions and gear before launching. Kenmore's life jacket Ordinance [ https://kenmore.civicweb.net/document/130103/ ] requires that anyone using human powered watercraft (canoe, paddleboard, kayak, etc) must wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) while on Kenmore waters.

In other water safety news, local Eagle Scout Dale Hirt recently completed a new permanent life jacket loaner station at Log Boom Park, providing free access to life jackets at Kenmore's busiest beach. "Thank you for this contribution, Eagle Scout Dale!"
