We are seeking a *Project/Program Manager II *to be responsible for supporting and conducting case investigations, managing and distributing case reports, providing technical assistance to investigation teams and external partners, coordinating and facilitating meetings and other activities, and maintaining program documents and protocols for the Communicable Disease Epidemiology and Immunization (CD-Imms) Investigations Branch. This position will support the Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Team within that Branch about 50% of the time, with the remaining time supporting the other three Teams: Zoonotics and Emerging Infections; Enterics and Foodborne Diseases; and Vaccine Preventable Diseases and Viral Hepatitis. This position will report to a Project/Program Manager III (PPM III) who has oversight for disease investigations.
*Background*
The General Communicable Disease Investigation team is comprised of four components: Investigations, Outreach, Response, and Education (IORE). Our section is staffed with talented and mission-driven team members that work collaboratively, are solution oriented that encourages a work environment of mutual respect. This position offers an exciting opportunity to build upon the strong foundation that’s been established during the COVID-19 pandemic Public Health response to improve each component of our work.
Our team investigates reports of notifiable conditions, unusual clusters of illness, healthcare facilitated-associated outbreaks, and unusual illness through interviewing and reviewing medical information. Our work requires collaboration with healthcare and other public health professionals, clinical laboratories, patients and family members, close contacts of ill persons, schools, childcare centers, and other private businesses across King County.
The CD-Imms section resides within the Prevention Division in Public Health – Seattle & King County. The CD-Imms section focuses on three major functions: Disease Surveillance, Case Investigation, and Intervention. The section is led by the Chief and the Deputy Chief and is composed of 4 teams: Investigations, Analytics and Informatics, Immunization and Administration.
We are a large skilled, passionate team of ~100 FTEs that oversees the 65+ reportable diseases and conditions (excluding TB, STIs and HIV) from healthcare professionals and laboratories in King County. Some of our work includes investigating cases and identifying other exposed persons requiring follow up; analyzing disease report data and trends to identity opportunities for disease prevention; monitor emergency department visits for indications of outbreaks or biological terrorism; conduct influenza surveillance year-round. We also lead immunization strategies to increase vaccine uptake especially among school age children and high-risk groups. Cross-collaboration across teams is central to our workflow and each team supports one another to achieve the objectives of the section.
The CD-Imms section supports employee growth and skill building opportunities, including regular supervisor/leadership trainings, King County employee trainings, a new and growing database of training opportunities across competencies, and some training dollars to attend paid courses and/or conferences. The Department also offers career development support and resources as well for staff, including mentorship program, interview skill building, and resume development.

*Work Schedule*
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week. This position is Non Exempt and subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
*Work Location*
The base for this position is the Chinook Building, located at 401 5th Ave, Seattle, WA, 98104. In the Fall of 2024, work will be performed onsite 1 day per week. Beginning January 2025, onsite work will be 1-2 days per week.
Some of the work associated with this position will be performed through teleworking, and will report to office location and to meetings as needed. Travel to other work locations may be necessary. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. To support employees during this time King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team.
