*Plymouth Supportive Housing Project in Kenmore Voted Down by City Council
*At the January 22 meeting [ https://kenmore.civicweb.net/document/252423/ ], the City Council voted 5-2 to deny the development agreement for the proposed Plymouth Supportive Housing development [ https://lnks.gd/l/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDEsInVyaSI6ImJwMjpjbGljayIsInVybCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vd3d3Lmtlbm1vcmV3YS5nb3YvZ292ZXJubWVudC9ob3VzaW5nLWFuZC1odW1hbi1zZXJ2aWNlcy9hZmZvcmRhYmxlLWhvdXNpbmctZGV2ZWxvcG1lbnQiLCJidWxsZXRpbl9pZCI6IjIwMjQwMTE5Ljg4ODYwMDAxIn0.18sxw_gcrAfjIYq31-dqGXWtebb0MZ3btWN-rSPXiI0/s/1129321182/br/235709877537-l ] at 6532 Bothell Way NE. The proposed development would have provided 100 units of Permanent Supportive Housing in downtown Kenmore.

""The Council has made its decision, and while this project will not be moving forward, we must still recognize and proactively work to address the enormity of our housing and homelessness crisis. So many of the problems we face as a society are caused or exacerbated by a lack of housing that people can afford, and we must continue our work to allow more housing and different forms of housing to help meet the diverse needs of our residents." -- Mayor Nigel Herbig.""

*Pavement Overlay and Sidewalk Repair on 73rd Avenue NE
*Last spring, work began on 73rd Avenue NE from NE 181st Street to NE 192nd Street to lay fresh asphalt overlay on the road, repair sidewalks (bringing them into Americans with Disabilities Act compliance), add bike lanes, and place boardwalks in areas to preserve existing trees and their roots. Due to material delays, temporary handrailing was installed on the boardwalk sections until the permanent handrailing materials arrive. The final pavement marking will be scheduled for this spring, during better weather. *February is Black History Month in Kenmore
*February 2024 has been proclaimed Black History Month in Kenmore. Black History Month celebrates and pays tribute to the many enhancements and advancements that Black and African Americans have contributed to our history, society, and culture, often in the face of cruelty, prejudice, and hardship. The proclamation summons every member of the Kenmore community to build on togetherness and cultural awareness, and serves as an affirmation of the City's commitment to protect and serve "everyone" in Kenmore, without discrimination, through beliefs in dignity, equality, and civil rights of all people.
