*We’re making the **15th Ave NE/NE 105th St Bridge* [ https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/bridges-stairs-and-other-structures/bridges/15th-ave-ne-bridge-seismic-retrofit/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]* stronger and less vulnerable in the event of an earthquake. We expect the project to be finished in summer 2026. *

*Upcoming Bridge Closure: Thursday, September 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. *

What's Happening Now?

*Upcoming Bridge Closure*

* Crews will *close the 15th Ave NE/NE 105th St bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 25 *to pour another concrete crossbeam as they continue work on the bridge to make it better withstand earthquakes.
* These crossbeams are horizontal supports that connect to the vertical parts of the bridge, adding stability and strength.

*How Will This Work Impact You?*

* Driveways on 15th Ave NE between NE 104th St and NE 105th St will remain accessible.
* People walking or using mobility devices can still cross the bridge during full closures.

*Progress Update*

* *Crossbeam retrofits:* Crews are continuing to work on the crossbeams that still need to be upgraded and will be pouring concrete for another crossbeam during the upcoming full closure.
* In the past few weeks, crews have been placing reinforcing bars, creating concrete forms, and pouring concrete crossbeams between the bridge’s columns during full closures.
* Work on retrofits to the bridge’s crossbeams is about 20% complete and will continue through spring 2026.

Construction crews pour a concrete crossbeam that will add resiliency to the bridge’s crossbeams in case of a seismic event during the last full bridge closure on September 11.

Important Reminders

*What to Expect During Construction*

* Access to homes will stay open. If we need to block a driveway, we’ll notify you ahead of time.
* Crews will work in public areas near homes and businesses.
* Expect typical construction impacts like noise, dust, vibrations, and equipment on site.
* Work hours are 7 AM to 5 PM.

*Sidewalk impacts*

* One sidewalk on 15th Ave NE at the bridge will stay open at all times.

*Lane closures on 15th Ave NE at the bridge*

* Ongoing one-lane closures.
* Usually, one lane will stay open, with flaggers or temporary signals guiding traffic.
* On-street parking won’t be available throughout the project.

* Crews will fully close the bridge at least once a week.
* These closures won’t block driveways on 15th Ave NE between NE 104th St and NE 105th St.
