SDOT in partnership with King County Metro are upgrading the Route 70 to a RapidRide level of Service. 

Construction Update - Northbound Detour at E Allison St

As soon as November 6, we will put a short northbound detour in place to guide traffic from Eastlake Ave E onto E Allison St and then down Harvard Ave E to rejoin Eastlake Ave E. This detour will remain in use for the majority of the project.
 
Temporary signal modifications will be installed at the Allison/Harvard intersection to facilitate bus and vehicle traffic using the detour route. We will also install a left-turn signal on Harvard Ave E to allow vehicles to turn left onto Eastlake Ave E. The current bus stop on Eastlake Ave E will be temporarily relocated to Harvard Ave E during this detour. Construction crews built a new driveway for entry into the paid parking area beneath I-5 from Harvard Ave E. A load zone will be installed on the south side E Allison Street. While the detour is in place, crews will replace utilities, resurface the road, and install new protected bike lanes and elements of the RapidRide bus service, such as new bus shelters. Crews will also use this area for material storage during construction.

Community Outreach

We are grateful to everyone who took the time to meet with our outreach team on Eastlake Avenue E this week. A special thank you to the nearly 70 individuals who came out to learn more about the project and shared their thoughts with us. We are eager to keep these dialogues going during the construction phase. To facilitate this, we will be hosting a weekly online open house. Starting November 14, SDOT staff will be available every Thursday at 2 p.m. for an hour to address any questions you may have about the construction.
