Weekly Roundup

kent 101 finance

Another great Kent 101 class this week! Finance Director Paula Painter and Budget Manager Michelle Ferguson did a fantastic job breaking down our budget, the general fund and more! They do a great job making a complex topic easy to understand.

school pics

I was lucky enough to combine two of my favorite things - talking with students and talking about the City of Kent.

The Canyon Ridge students are learning about all levels of government and had great questions.

I also got to watch them play Government Jeopardy - created by their amazing teacher Ms. Galvan. They went for the $500 questions first and were awesome!

I am always grateful for the opportunity to spend time with our students!

Little stuffed bees have scattered across Kent, and they need your help to track them down. Search for the hidden bees, complete your passport, and submit it for a chance to win prizes from local businesses. *Get your scavenger hunt passport here!  [ https://www.downtownkentwa.com/event/ssh25/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]*

life saving award

Chief Padilla had the honor of presenting the Kent Police Lifesaving Award to Officers Litke and Quidachay for their quick-thinking and courageous actions that saved a woman in crisis.

On December 22, 2024, Officers Litke and Quidachay responded to a call at the Boulevard Apartments, where a woman was in crisis. Working alongside their team, they acted swiftly and courageously to bring her to safety—preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.

Their quick thinking and dedication to protecting our community truly embody the mission of the Kent Police Department. Please join me in thanking them for their outstanding service!

Annual Diaper Drive
diaper drive

Help us collect diapers and wipes for the 11th Annual March for Diapers Drive. During March, donate diapers and wipes at Kent City Hall during business hours.

Every year, the City of Kent joins other South King County cities in collecting diapers and wipes for babies in need.

We have set up a diaper corral in City Hall lobby to collect donations until Monday, March 31. We are asking for any child diapers preemie to size 6, as well as pullups and baby wipes. We will take half used packages too!

Domestic Abuse Women's Network (DAWN) & Kent's Pediatric Interim Care Center (PICC) will receive the diapers donated.
