*Food Access Programs at the Farmers Market and Summer Food Resources
*Did you know the Kenmore Farmers Market [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/our-city/kenmore-farmers-market ] offers Food Access Programs? This means that shoppers with WIC (Women, Infant and Children) and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits can use their benefit dollars at the market. The Kenmore Farmers Market is also proud to accept EBT cards and offer a source of nutritious foods to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients. Visit the City of Kenmore information tent at the market to swipe your EBT card and receive tokens for qualifying market vendors.
"*Don't go hungry!*" Nourishing Networks [ https://www.nourishingnetworks.net/bothellkenmore-get-help ] has compiled a great resource of food access and assistance programs that are open to Kenmore community members in the summer, and all throughout the year. *Permit Fees Waived for Accessory Dwelling Units
*As part of Kenmore’s housing strategy, the City continues to plan for a range of densities and housing types for all needs and incomes by preserving, improving, and expanding housing stock. In an effort to promote more diversified and attainable housing options, the Kenmore City Council recently approved a resolution to waive building, plumbing, and mechanical permit fees for the construction of new Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). The new fee resolution [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/2741/638237353752570000 ] went into effect July 1, 2023. *NE 190th Culvert Replacement Project Closures*
Beginning July 17, until fall of 2023, NE 190th at 61st Avenue NE will be closed and the right turn only at NE 193rd Street and 61st Avenue NE will also be closed as part of the NE 190th Culvert Replacement Project. The project will replace the deteriorating culvert with a larger fish-passable (and up to standard) culvert to Tributary Stream 0056. *Go Electric! Workshop Series Kicks Off with Cookin' Hot, Hot, Hot!*
The Cities of Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, and Shoreline are partnering together to host a free GO ELECTRIC! workshop series [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/1905/102 ] to help you save money, improve comfort, and reduce emissions. The first workshop is Tuesday, July 18, at 7 pm at Third Place Commons. Learn how you can have cleaner air and cook faster by switching from gas to an induction stovetop. Bonus! A local chef will give an induction cooking demo and share why they choose induction over gas.
